SENIOR STAFF ENGINEER – STRUCTURES Salary: Competitive and based on experience Location: CDMX Keywords: collaborative, engineering simulation, technical support, structural analysis, mentoring, consulting services, training opportunities, inclusive environment, flexible working opportunities

A leading engineering simulation and scientific software provider is seeking a Sr Staff Engineer – Structures to join their growing team in Mexico City. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to leverage your advanced technical expertise in structural mechanics, finite element analysis, and customer engagement within a supportive and inclusive environment. You will play a pivotal role in guiding clients through complex engineering challenges, delivering consulting services, technical support, and training on industry-leading tools such as ANSYS Mechanical and Mechanical APDL. The organisation values flexibility, offering a hybrid work model with the expectation of three days per week in the office, while also providing opportunities for professional growth through collaboration with knowledgeable colleagues across North America. If you are passionate about sharing your knowledge, nurturing client relationships, and contributing to impactful engineering projects, this position offers the perfect platform for your next career step.

* Join a respected engineering simulation leader where your expertise in structural analysis will directly impact client success and satisfaction through consulting, technical support, and training initiatives.
* Benefit from flexible working opportunities that balance remote work with collaborative office-based teamwork, fostering both autonomy and connection with peers.
* Enjoy ongoing professional development by engaging with diverse projects, mentoring opportunities, and access to cutting-edge engineering tools and methodologies.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Staff Engineer – Structures, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-impact engineering solutions using advanced simulation tools. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve direct interaction with clients to assess their structural analysis needs and provide expert consulting throughout the project lifecycle. You will utilise your deep understanding of finite element methods to perform complex analyses—ranging from linear static assessments to non-linear dynamic simulations—and translate these into actionable insights for clients. In addition to hands-on project execution, you will serve as a trusted advisor by offering technical support on ANSYS products and related software packages. Your role extends beyond problem-solving; you will also share your knowledge through structured training sessions designed to upskill both internal teams and external clients. Success in this position requires balancing multiple priorities—from pre-sales consultations to post-project reporting—while maintaining clear communication channels with stakeholders. By collaborating with fellow engineers on challenging assignments and continuously honing your skills in new physics domains or software features, you will contribute meaningfully to both individual client outcomes and broader organisational goals.

* Collaborate closely with customers to understand their unique analysis requirements and expectations, ensuring tailored solutions that address their specific engineering challenges.
* Develop comprehensive quotes and proposals by accurately determining project scopes, costs, and schedules in alignment with client needs.
* Execute all aspects of finite element analysis including meshing, defining load cases, solving problems, post-processing results, and drawing meaningful conclusions for clients.
* Provide expert guidance by proposing alternative design ideas that enhance project outcomes and demonstrate value-added thinking.
* Prepare detailed analysis reports and technical documentation as requested by customers to clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
* Deliver responsive technical support to end users of ANSYS products via phone, email, or in-person interactions, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
* Facilitate engaging technical training sessions at client sites, online platforms, or company offices across North America to empower users with essential skills.
* Participate actively in pre-sales meetings to identify customer needs, ask insightful questions for accurate quoting, assemble proposals, execute projects efficiently, and provide thorough reports.
* Manage multiple concurrent tasks including pre-sales activities, technical support tickets (including IT-related queries), consulting assignments, and training projects with professionalism.
* Work collaboratively with other engineers on advanced consulting engagements while seeking advice from Technical Project Managers and Engineering Managers as needed.

What you bring:

Your background demonstrates a blend of advanced academic achievement and substantial practical experience within mechanical engineering disciplines. As a Senior Staff Engineer – Structures, you bring not only deep theoretical knowledge but also proven application of finite element methods across diverse industrial contexts. Your ability to articulate complex concepts clearly—both verbally and in writing—ensures that clients feel supported throughout every stage of their projects. You have honed your analytical thinking through years of tackling challenging simulations involving non-linear materials or dynamic loading scenarios. Beyond technical prowess, your approachable manner fosters productive teamwork internally while nurturing long-term partnerships externally. Familiarity with modern business tools streamlines your workflow management so you can focus on delivering value where it matters most: helping clients achieve robust engineering outcomes efficiently. Your commitment to continuous learning means you stay current on emerging technologies or methodologies relevant to structural mechanics—making you an invaluable resource for both colleagues seeking mentorship and customers requiring expert guidance.

* Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required along with at least ten years of relevant industry experience; five years must include hands-on use of ANSYS for real-world problem solving.
* Demonstrated proficiency in enterprise-level finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS (preferred), Abaqus, Nastran or Altair is essential for success in this role.
* Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications as well as familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce.com are necessary for effective project management.
* Exceptional English-language communication abilities—including technical writing and verbal presentation—are required for clear client interactions and report preparation.
* Documented experience in structural linear/non-linear static implicit analysis methods (including plasticity/hyperelasticity/contact/large deformation) is highly valued.
* Proven track record in implicit dynamics (modal/harmonic/response spectrum/random vibration) or thermal analysis (steady-state/time domain transient) enhances your candidacy.
* Experience with explicit dynamics modelling (e.g., crash impact or metal forming simulations) using LS-Dyna/Autodyn/Abaqus Explicit is considered an asset.
* Familiarity with grid generation/meshing techniques using Ansys Meshing/Femap/Hypermesh supports efficient workflow execution.
* Ability to communicate effectively on technical pre-sales matters helps drive service sales while building trust-based relationships with clients.
* Personable attitude combined with strong interpersonal skills enables successful collaboration within teams as well as positive client engagement.
